Michael Wagner, Ph.D.
Michael J. Wagner, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in the State of Arizona. Dr. Wagner received his PhD from the University of Arizona and his MS in rehabilitation and general counseling from St. Cloud State University. Dr. Wagner has a unique background as a therapist which is augmented with a wide array of experience in leadership & administration, counseling, research and teaching. He is a retired colonel from the US Army Medical Service Corps. Michael’s work experience in the civilian and military sectors provides a rich understanding of people engaging in treatment, and assists in developing therapeutic relationships with a wide range of individuals seeking behavioral health services. Michael is experienced working with adult clientele (18 and over).
Dr. Wagner strives to integrate evidenced based treatment with alternative approaches to develop psychological wellness. Dr. Wagner’s training and experience includes; EMDR, CBT, DBT, prolonged exposure, narrative therapy, psychoanalytic approaches, shadow work, grief and loss, energy work and indigenous medicine. It is Michael’s belief that a person is able to find balance and healing within their own resources, strengths, gifts and talents.
Dr. Wagner is dedicated to facilitating the healing of physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual wounds of trauma and conflict within the individual, family and community. He is experienced with issues related to military service and combat deployment, trained in VA recommended evidenced based treatments. Dr. Wagner specializes in issues related to trauma (PTSD) (combat, sexual, physical, and emotional), adjustment to traumatic brain injury, pain, neurocognitive disorders, adjustment to life transitions and aging, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, anger, rehabilitation, and a variety of additional behavioral health issues. He is a trained mediator.
